3 Trends for Spring, 1 pair of Denim

“Unapologetic flares that revisit a nostalgic silhouette”

Citizens of Humanity jeans are hand-crafted and produced in small batches. The average price per pair is around $150. The denim are created to fit very comfortably without pulling or gaping and most of the jeans have a vintage look. The company has produced the Melanie Crop Retro’s which are priced at $303 Canadian and can be purchased at Aritzia and a few other retailers. Not only has Citizens of Humanity mastered the fit, but also the design. These jeans have a combination of 3 different trends ready for spring that will definitely be turning heads.

Trend #1: 70’s High Rise & Wide Leg

These jeans scream "Dazed and Confused"! Of course the 70’s style typically makes a comeback for spring, Citizens of Humanity has created a trendier, modern approach. “Cut with a high rise meant to cinch your waist, this pair of denim is has a wide, flared fit. The vintage-inspired silhouette is accentuated with oversized patch pockets”. Not only are these jeans trendy, but your iPhone 6 plus can finally fit into your pant pocket! #ModernHippy

Trend #2: Feeling Ombré
Described to be an “ombré effect” at the cropped bottom. These denim have a “lived-in look and feel”. I know what you’re thinking, “isn't ‘ombré’ what my best friend just did to her hair?” Yes, but it’s also a fashion trend and has mostly been used for beach wear. (Basically a one tone tie-dye)

Trend #3: Fraying bottom
The intentionally raw hem would probably make your grandmother cringe; she has probably been the one that has disposed of all your un-intentional frayed bottom jeans when you were a child. We are seeing fraying bottom on not only cut off shorts, but now cropped pants such as the Melanies, as well as many jackets and tops, and yes, that guy on the subway is rocking it too, (un-intentionally). The fraying at the bottoms adds such a raw and urban look really spices these jeans up.

When modern meets old school, what more could you ask for from a pair of denim?

Everyday essentials

Hey guys, I just wanted to share with you some of my favourite products I've been using for a while now that have really been my go-to items.

Starting from the bottom left, "Fast Food" by AG is a leave in conditioner that I use after I get out of the shower with clean hair. The smallest amount will go a long way. This product is so great for giving moisture, but if you use too much of it, it can leave your hair feeling very sticky.

The orange product in the top left side is deep conditioning mask from Marc Anthony that smells like paradise. The coconut and Shea butter used is so soothing and it is sulfate free! My hair and skin tends to get dry during colder days, I know many people can relate, so I grab this hair mask to help keep my hair hydrated.

To the right of my hair mask I have "Watt's up" by Benefit! It is one of the best highlighters I've used so far. It is a highlighting stick that is creamy and gives my skin moisture. My skin is literally glowing and I get so many compliments because of this product! I have used many powder highlighters in the past but nothing can seem to top this one.

Just underneath I have my cover girl pressed powder. I have had this in my makeup collection for a while now but recently grabbed it and have been sticking it in my purse. I love to keep it with me throughout the day in case my face becomes oily. It does the job and it was a drugstore find that didn't hurt my wallet.

To the right of my pressed powder is another drugstore find that I can't live without! I was watching YouTube makeup tutorials and many girls were suggesting this product so I gave it a try. It is the Maybelline instant age rewind under eye concealer. It is absolutely my favourite product I own. It has great coverage and it gives great moisture!

To the right of my concealer is my Clinique travel size bottle of the moisturizing lotion. I use the moisturizing gel for morning and night which is lighter on my skin during the day, but I have been reaching for the mini lotion bottle for when I am at the gym. It is a perfect size and gives my skin a radiant glow.

Last but not least I have my two MAC products that are key pieces in my makeup collection. My lipstick Velvet Teddy and my studio finish concealer. I have been using two MAC products for over 2 years now and I am constantly restocking it whenever I'm out!

I love these products and I'm sure you will too. These aren't super expensive so definitely experiment with them!

Out here freezing...

So the weathers getting colder and colder.... But my trip to Mexico is getting closer and closer... So I'm not too mad, lol.

Here are some of my favourite basic's that will definitely be my go to for fall/winter.

My h&m robe style jacket is paired with my citizens of humanity jeans and of course my Alexander Wangs!

My mom found this weekender jacket when she was thrifting and I had to snatch it from her closet. It's super minimalistic and very similar to something you could find at Oak & Fort.

But seriously... It's cold... I'M OUT HERE BUNDLED UP!!

By the way, if you haven't already, go get yourself a slice of the pumpkin loaf they have at Starbucks. I'm super addicted!

Fall Vibes

Although the weather is at an awkward time where it's still somewhat warm but chilly, I decided to pull out my Wang's from my closet and threw on my Wilfred Free button up. I also tossed over my shoulder one of my Aritzia scarves and my Auxiliary bag, which is spacious for holding my layers when I'm not chilly.

This look is great for this unusual weather. Two seasons in one.

My Tattoo's

thought for my first blog post, I would introduce myself, and the best way I thought how, was through my tattoos. Tattoo's in today's society are very common, and more and more people receive them on a daily basis. Mine in particular don't all tell stories, and not all tattoo's need to...

The first tattoo I got was on my left hip. It is my aunt's birthday in Roman numerals; May 6, 1944. If you know me personally, you would know the tragic story of her death that has affected myself and my family. She was a beautiful woman that I made sure I will always remember.

The second tattoo I got was down my spine, and it says "Everything happens for a reason". This is a cheesy, over-used quote that I love! It is one of my mom's sayings and it is a reminder to stay positive on a day to day basis and remember that life isn't perfect, but live life how you want. I am a huge believer in karma and I think that doing a good or bad thing in life will reflect on your life in a positive or negative way.

The third/fourth tattoo(s) I got were my Om symbol on my right ring finger and the word "Zlato" on my right upper inner arm where the elbow bend is. I got these two on the same day. The Om is a reminder to be at peace with everything. It is a reminder to breathe and focus. It is a symbol used for the practice of meditation and yoga and theres not a day that goes by that I don't fall in love with it over and over again.

"Zlato" means gold/darling, in Croatian. My mom's side of the family is Croatian and my grandma has been calling me this my whole life. My grandma is one of the most loving people I know, and is my only grandparent that is still alive. This was drawn out by Kethy Wang.

My fifth tattoo is my cow skull on my right upper inner arm. This cow skull is from a painting called "Cow skull with calico roses" By Georgia O'Keeffe. I have loved this painting for many years, and I am a huge lover of art history, and art in general, and I had to have this on my body. My other two favourite artists are Gustav Klimt and Frida Khalo.

My sixth tattoo was a dagger through a flower. I actually saw this picture on tumblr, and I had my tattoo artist change up quite a bit. I love this tattoo a lot. This tattoo has such great shading and line work and is very feminine but also edgy which is similar to my attitude and style. I always knew i wanted a dagger, and I have absolutely no idea why!

My seventh tattoo was a heart on my right wrist. My mom, brother and I were out for dinner and drinks one night and we randomly thought it was a good idea to get a matching tattoo. We called a local tattoo shop and got them! My brother decided to get his filled in, but my mom and I left the outline.

My eighth tattoo is my half sleeve of a Thai Buddha sitting on a lotus flower on my right arm on the upper half. I currently only have the outline and will be filling the outline in with grey/black. I have grown up with Buddhism in my life since I was born. My aunt that is deceased lived in Thailand and China and had sent me small Buddha figurines and elephants my whole life. When I was 16, I had to opportunity to go visit China for 12 days. I spend my days in Shanghai, Beijing, and Hong Kong. My tattoo represents my upbringing of Buddhism and also my adventures in China. The clouds around the Buddha represent when I was in Hong Kong visiting the Tian Tan Buddha up in the mountains. It was during the day with the most beautiful sunny and hot weather with clouds surrounding it.

I am currently working on getting a full sleeve on my right arm!
